Several of our members (and most other user groups in the UK) offer a Q&A; session at their meetings and to this end (and also to try and silence the complaints about our meetings not starting on time!) we will in future begin with a short Q&A.; So if you’re coming along and have any burning Apple-related questions, please use this opportunity to seek answers.
iApps
Speaker: Various
When: 29 January 2026
No more than 5 minutes on each of about 25 apps for your iPhone/iPad.
You may detect a holiday theme...
Passion.
That’s what sells a good app (and just about everything else, come to think of it) and two years ago a brave group of members hit the Suffolk MUG mic to describe why they loved their favourite iApps so much - but they had to do it in less than five minutes.
28 Apps later we’d just about choked up the iTunes server as members of the audience busily downloaded stuff they’d never heard of, and left the St Nicholas Centre with a bunch of new apps to explore on their i-devices.
So we thought we’d do it again.
This time, 13 members will be demonstrating around 25 favourite apps from all genres - business, educational, productivity, games, lifestyle, news, you name it. Once again, each speaker will be limited to five minutes (or face gobby Kwasniak and his cooker timer!) and we plan to pack in as many apps as we can.
Got an iDevice? Don’t be App-rehensive - Bring It!
Here’s the full list

Making the most of Apple TV
Speaker: Mark Riley
When: 26 March 2025
Got an Apple TV and want to do more with it? Been thinking of getting one, but not sure what it will add to your digital life? Just interested in all things Apple, and want to know how you can build a media library on your Mac? If so, the SMUG session in March will guide you along the path; from getting started all the way to taking your Apple kit to the limits!
As well as setting up and tweaking your Apple TV, we'll be discussing iTunes Home Sharing, AirPlay Music, converting your DVDs, viewing photos, getting your home movies onto Apple TV, and using third-party products such as TV tuners and a NAS (Network Attached Storage) to build and hold your media library.
In short, pretty much all you need to turn your media digital! See you in March!
Mark Riley became an Apple convert in 2006 when he started using Final Cut Pro. From humble beginnings learning Audio-Visual skills in a church setting, Mark now also works with digital media in his professional life as a broadcast engineer: helping to design and operate the technology behind BT's TV services: BT Sport and BT Vision.
